New BR‐X5, Bell & Ross
With the new BR‐X5, Bell & Ross adds an important new chapter to the history of the BR 05 collection. In fact, this new model is characterised not only by an avant-garde design but also by a new proprietary movement designed for the brand by the Swiss specialist Kenissi.
The BR-X5 comes in a 41 mm x 12.80 mm case that is made entirely of stainless steel alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces and built around a watertight container, a kind of central core that protects the movement. The crown guard is machined from the same block as the container.
The square bezel with its round sapphire crystal on the dial side and the open caseback on the movement side are fixed to the two steel plates that form the top and bottom of the case.
The plates-container-bezel-caseback assembly is kept watertight by 4 screws that pass through the thickness of the case via 4 columns which reinforce the solidity of the construction.
Two version are available. The BR-X5 Black Steel uses the color code dear to Bell & Ross with black, white and touches of red. The BR-X5 Ice Blue Steel offers a more stylish look with an eye-catching ice blue dial.
Both variations can be matched to either a colour-coordinated rubber strap or to a satin‐brushed and polished steel bracelet with prices of Euro 6,900 and Euro 7,400, respectively.
Protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the dial optimises the reading of information. The hours are marked by long applique metal indexes with a rhodium-plated outline, the central part of which is filled, just like the hour and minute hands, with grade X1 Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility.
A large aperture at 3 o’clock displays the date while, at 9 o’clock, we find a circle-shaped power reserve indicator.
The proprietary BR-CAL.323 calibre is equipped with a variable-inertia balance wheel and a personalised oscillating weight with a design inspired by a sports car rim that can be observed through the transparent sapphire crystal.
Certified as a chronometer by the Swiss Official Chronometer Control Body (COSC), this self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with an autonomy of approximately 70 hours. It features a rapid date correction device which allows adjustment at any time, without altering the operation of the watch.
Together with the steel versions, Bell & Ross also presented the BR-X5 Carbon Orange which combines materials like titanium DLC, carbon fiber and rubber with various orange accents for an avant-garde and sporty look.
